Yep, anticipation is building for the start of the historic Route 66 road trip. We’ve started to gather a few things, but there’s still a lot to put together for this trip!
Yikes, 4 or 5 weeks is a long time to be gone. Have to work on getting the lawn mowed while we’re away.
There are no definite plans for hotel/motel/campsites along the way. So, we’ll be deciding on short notice where to stay. This is always an interesting way to travel.
Still working on the details for the trip. Gathering items to make a more complete first aid kit–just in case! Need to get the Murano into the shop for one last makeover before departure.
“Route 66 Still Kicks: Driving America’s Main Street” by Rick Antonson today. An interesting story of two guys who left intent on driving every section of historic Route 66 and the adventures they had along the way. Gave some insight into interesting things to see along the way as well as some things to be careful of when making route decisions!
Gary ordered and received “The Map Series” by Jerry McClanahan and Jim Ross in early May. There are 8 maps-one for each state on the Route. I used these to plan the trip generally–how many days, what to see along the way, etc.
